Broadway Center Conservatory To Host

Spectacular Summer Classes for South Sound Youth

Tacoma, WA  The Broadway Center Conservatory is now accepting registrations for the Spectacular Summer Classes available to South Sound Youth. Offering diverse opportunities for students to explore the performing arts through partnerships with local organizations such as The Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County and Northwest Sinfonietta, Conservatory classes are designed to develop character, imagination, and concentration to students ages 6 – 20 and are open to all levels of experience. Two new classes offered this summer include Let’s Put on a Show and Musical Theater Summer Adventure.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Humane Society and Northwest Sinfonietta to provide unique, creative and imaginative summer camp experience” commented Nyree Martinez, Broadway Center Conservatory Education Manager.

In partnership with The Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County, Broadway Center Conservatory will present the light and lively musical The Day I Walked on Four Legs as part of the Let’s Put on a Show class. This performance teaches children important lessons on caring for our pets, our community and our planet through music and wonderful dialog, and with the help of a few furry friends.

As part of the Musical Theater Summer Adventure students will learn the specialties required in musical theatre. Then in Spring 2009, in partnership with the Northwest Sinfonietta, Broadway Center for the Performing Arts will produce a fully staged musical, with the student participation. Students are given the chance to start preparing early for the performance, with Conservatory style training that utilizes master teaching artists to teach students how to project their voices, and belt out show tunes!

The Conservatory will also be offering a series of special day-long Immersion Classes to expose students to diverse cultures as they learn about different forms of expression in other societies. The West African Dance Immersion will explore and practice West African Dance techniques, along with participation in a collaborative sharing. The Tai Chi Immersion teaches ancient form of martial arts in a fun, supportive environment.
