Conceived by Lucas Smiraldo, and written in association with Charhys Bailey and Antonio Edwards. Directed by Katie Stricker with choreography from Franchesska Berry and Erricka Turner Davis.
This encore tour, which reached 15,000 youth last year, focuses on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s relationship with communities that challenged and changed our nation and the world to honor the dignity and rights of every citizen and person. Showcasing theater, original poetry, music, dance and new multi media elements, Dr. King’s story is told in eleven parts; spanning major events from the Montgomery Bus Boycott to his speech at the Lincoln Memorial and more personal events such as his loving upbringing.
The education guide features information on many historical figures who fought injustice and offers a different civic theme to explore in association with each of the eleven days. The tour sold out last season, so be sure to reserve your space early! “The MLK performance was absolutely fabulous. Such a wonderful tribute to the man; educational, emotional, thought provoking and pushing us all to be better.” - Ann Brock, University Place
