Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Storytelling Assembly:
King Beyond Borders
Featuring Peruvian American Storyteller, Rose Cano

Beginning January 11 through January, 29, 2010 at schools across Pierce County
Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. challenged the nation and the world to honor the dignity and rights of every citizen and person. Join celebrated Peruvian American storyteller, Rose Cano, as she presents tales from North, Central and South America and reflects upon Dr. King’s lessons.
Carefully selected indigenous tales will showcase humanity and creatively focus on themes of xenophobia (fear of strangers or foreigners), intolerance, and prejudice based on appearance and bias against those who are of cultures different than our own through vibrant traditional stories and songs.
Standard Storytelling Package Fee: $575 per day
Fees for Schools at 25% or higher Free and Reduced Lunch rate: $500
The Storytelling Package will occur on a single day. Services must begin after 9:00 a.m. Fees include, your option of one of the following:
- Package I: Two Assemblies – 45 minutes each on the same day, with no more than a 90-minute break between assemblies.
- Package II: One morning assembly and two workshops in single classrooms, preferably in the mid to late morning.
- Package III: Four separate workshops in individual classrooms, which will include a storytelling presentation in each.
